Mark brings a rich set of design experiences to Oilpress! He began his career in the world of theater where, in collaboration with various directors and designers, he designed sets for the Long Beach Opera, the San Jose Opera and the San Francisco Opera Center. The National Endowment for the Arts and Theater Communications Group recognized him twice as one of six finalists in competition for their national fellowship award in stage design. While designing for the stage, Mark taught theater and environmental design courses at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, the University of California at Davis and the University of California at Santa Cruz.
In 1996 Mark redirected his talents into the field of graphic design. He worked for several years in Washington D.C., where he designed Web sites, interactive CD-ROMs, catalogs and other printed communications in support of educational and lending institutions. In 2000 he returned to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue work as a freelance designer, and in 2004 co-founded Oilpress! with his creative partner and wife, Katherine Oehlschlager. Mark serves as coCreative Director at Oilpress!, and oversees new business development for the company.
Mark holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Theater from the University of California at San Diego, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design from the University of California at Davis.
